Our hall, out-buildings and grounds offer endless possibilities to renters. Whether your need is to host a Wedding, a Meeting, a Fundraiser or a Festival, the Farmers Institute can meet your requirements at very reasonable rates.

The Hall

Built in 1921, the Farmers Institute Hall at Cobble Hill offers renters an authentic old-time community hall atmosphere. The beautiful 3800 square foot hall has original hardwood floors with horsehair underlay making the perfect surface for dancing at a Wedding or durable isles for an Arts and Crafts Show.

Capacity of the Hall is 250 for a meeting and approximately 200 if there are dining tables set up. A stage for theatrical presentations is at the front of the space and we recently installed a new Public Announcement System, specifically designed for the room. A large covered porch exists at the front entrance and a wheelchair accessible ramp is located at the side of the building. Men’s, Women’s and a Wheelchair accessible washroom form part of the interior space and rentals include the use of tables and chairs.

The front office area can be used as a Bar at a Celebratory Event or for a Registration or Information Desk at a Public Function.

We are very proud of our Commercial Kitchen. It has a huge side-by-side stainless fridge, convection oven and commercial range with 2 ovens, 6 burners and a griddle surface. The kitchen is equipped with a large, stainless steel work surface in the centre of the room. Renters need to supply their own cooking equipment, dishes, utensils and cleaning supplies.

A 1100 square foot dining hall that can be used to seat a smaller group or to set up the buffet table for your hungry guests is located between the kitchen and the main hall.

Lots of parking exists at the side and front of the building and parking is permitted on the street around the property.

All Renters must carry their own Event Insurance with the Farmers Institute named as “also insured” and have a Liquor License if liquor is served.

The Youth Hall

If you are hosting a smaller event, the Youth Hall might be what you are looking for. This 1160 square foot building has a small kitchen with a gas range and a fridge. A large unisex washroom is in the building. Folding tables and chairs set up easily for a meeting or presentation.

Stu Armour 4-H Building

The Stu Armour 4-H Building is a new addition to the Farmers Institute's holdings. This beautiful new 3800 square foot structure was donated to the Farmers Institute in 2014 by the Armour family. The space has a concrete floor, white plywood walls, high ceilings and is serviced by a heat pump system. The venue is suitable for parties, weddings, special events, shows and markets. Although it does not have a kitchen, caterers do not have a problem providing service to the building.

The Grounds

The property covers approximately 5.5 acres on both sides of Watson Rd in the heart of Cobble Hill Village. Both portions of the property are fully fenced and gated to provide easy monitoring of your event participants. The field around the hall is level and well-drained for year round use.

Part of our holding include a beautiful field across Watson Road that is home to our indigenous Red Legged Frog during the winter and spring months. When it dries in the summer, the field has been used for Horse Shows, Dog Trials and Archery Competition. It is a versatile space with a stage at the end where your MC can announce the goings-on at your event.

The Upper grounds have a variety of paddocks and livestock barns. This is the area where the Farmers Institute shows the cattle, sheep, miniature horses and Turkeys during the fair. We host our Halloween Haunted Barn and the Easter Egg Hunt here as well. There are many sheltered areas if you want to hold an outdoor event with an agricultural feel and have covered options if the weather does not co-operate.
