Celebrating Cobble Hill

Cobble Hill Fair

Virtual Fair Winners

For children under 6 to 16, adults 17 and over, and for families, this was open to everyone! We had a great reaction with some wonderful photos sent in. Thank you to everyone!

4-H Club Participation

The Cobble Hill Farmers Institute is delighted to help the various 4-H Clubs in our community by providing free meeting space and outdoor grounds annually for their many programs and activities. We were happy to have some of the Clubs participate in our 2021 Virtual Fair.

Our traditional Cobble Hill Fair is a community event for kids of all ages. It showcases the wonderful variety of talent - both growing and entertainment - that exists in the South Cowichan area. Join us as we "celebrate our past and cultivate our future".

We were not able to host our traditional Fair again in 2021 because of the BC Health restrictions about gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we again hosted our 'Virtual Fair' and as planned on August 28th 2021 we held a very successful day long family oriented outdoor concert and Show & Shine on the Cobble Hill Hall grounds and on the Cobble Hill Common.

Several hundred people took the opportunity to enter their goods, produce, and handicrafts into the 112th Cobble Hill Fair held virtually and several thousand joined us to enjoy the car show and the day of music and 'community celebration'.

We are hopeful that the 113th Cobble Hill Fair will be our traditional event. If so, it will be held on Saturday, August 27th 2022 and we know the community is looking forward to seeing neighbours and friends, both old and new, at this wonderful family event.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the pictures posted of the 2021 ‘Virtual Fair’ winners. We thank everyone for entering the Virtual Fair and those involved in our Day of Celebration.

Until the next time, please stay safe and well!

Cobble Hill (Area C) Regional Director

Welcome to the 112th Virtual Cobble Hill Fair!

With Covid19 this is a difficult year for all, but I am immensely honoured to be involved with this enduring and all-encompassing event that brings both our local and neighbouring communities together year after year. A big thank you to all of the other community volunteers, whether you work within or outside of the various CVRD Committees and Commissions, who work tirelessly to make our area such a great place to be. Their contribution can never be underestimated.

It’s frightening how quickly time goes by and how much our world has changed during this tumultuous period and even though the Farmers Institute needed to cancel its traditional Fair to comply with the directive of Dr. Bonnie Henry, our provincial health officer, I encourage you all to  enter, enjoy and participate in this virtual version of the longstanding Cobble Hill Fair. Perhaps there is now a sliver of light at the end of the tunnel and  let us hope that  things will continue to improve, not just here on our beautiful island, but throughout the world.

Am I still enjoying this, the life of a local politician? Absolutely - and I will continue to do so because my job has been made so much easier with the support that I have enjoyed from the community and  my sincere thanks to all  for this.  If you have questions or concerns  please don’t hesitate to  email me at  mike.wilson@cvrd.bc.ca
