Farmers Institute at Cobble Hill EventsEvery year the Farmers Institute hosts a variety of community events including: Valentine Tea, Seedy Saturday, Easter Egg Hunt, Cobble Hill Fair and the Haunted Barns. However, we are also home to South Cowichan Seniors, 4-H, Dog Obedience Classes, TOPS and so much more.

Our Valentine Tea happens February 14th and at this event we honour our life members and recognize those in the community who volunteer their time so that we can live in one of the best places on earth. Our life members are: Nellie Poelman, Claudia and John McLeod, Margaret Baird, Dave Thomson, Jessie Anderson, Romey Pringle, Al McMaster, Marian Davies, Gerry Giles and the Cobble Hill Legion - Branch 226.

Seedy Saturday is an extremely popular event usually held every year in the beginning of March. At Seedy Saturday the hall is filled to overflow capacity with both seed and rare plant buyers and sellers alike. This sold out event is always a huge success!

Cobble Hill EventsStaged for the little people in our community, the Easter Egg Hunt usually sees about 100 young people join us on the fair grounds for "the hunt". Sponsored by South Cowichan Storage this popular event provides a great deal of pleasure for both young and old. Seeing the smiling faces is wonderful and some of the costumes are first-class!

The Cobble Hill Fair is our hallmark event. Begun in 1909 the Fair showcases all that is great about living in the South Cowichan area. Cobble Hill and the surrounding area was founded on the agricultural industry and we value our roots, our rural nature and our relaxed lifestyle. Every fair is alive with activity and entertainment for the whole family. The Cobble Hill Fair celebrates our past while cultivating our future.

Haunted Barns are a big hit for those brave enough to venture into this scary space. Decorated and haunted by students from Francis Kelsey School, the barns provide three levels of fright with the third level reserved for the bravest of the brave. After touring the barns participants come to the main grounds for hot chocolate, hot dogs and other treats that are cooked and served with the help of South Cowichan Rotarians and Mill Bay Firefighters.

South Cowichan Seniors 55+ provides luncheons to those who seek conversation, a warm meal, laughter and an opportunity to meet friends old and new. Luncheons are held in the Cobble Hill Hall on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Doors opening at noon and lunch is served shortly thereafter.
